TJRD Helps out at the ToRD double header

What a great night of derby! The TJRD cheered on their favourite teams and while they were at it they managed to collect over $250 for Bullying Canada. For more information about Bullying Canada visit bullyingcanada.ca.

March is here! That means that we are only 3 days away from our big sister league’s next bout! We’ll be there again selling 50/50 tickets for another great cause. You may remember that the TJRD skaters raised over $300 for prostate cancer at the ToRD season opener; this time the proceeds are going to Bullying Canada. For more information about Bullying Canada visit their website at bullyingcanada.ca. We are looking forward to helping this great organization and seeing some amazing derby! See you there!

Chicks Ahoy! win the 2012 season opener!

What a couple of amazing games the ToRD gave us last night! Two great finishes that had the full capacity crowd on the edge of their seats all night!

Our Toronto Junior Roller Derby girls did a great job too, selling 50/50 tickets. They raised over $300 for prostate cancer!

Lastly, our very own coach Black Bloc’er nearly caused a riot in her debut with the D-VAS! She played a great game and we’re looking forward to many more!

We’ll see everyone at our big sister league’s next game on March 3rd where we hope to raise even more money for another great cause!

It’s Thursday! We’re only two days away from the Toronto Roller Derby’s season opener! Come out to The Bunker at Downsview Park and check out the Gore Gore Rollergirls, the Chicks Ahoy!, and the D-VAS rip up the track! We’ll be there too, selling 50/50 tickets! See you Saturday!

Hi; My name Derby Name is Hard Rock Kandy Mt. I am an assistant coach for the Fairbanks Jr. Roller Girls. The Fools Gold and Bruise Berries are our two home teams. I am looking for an example of a Jr. Derby Handbook. Do you have any advice? Anonymous

Hello! I’m sorry it took us a bit to get back to you! We’re getting revved up for our season that starts tomorrow! There are some great resources on the Junior Roller Derby Association website - www.juniorrollerderby.org
We have had a plan to make a handbook for new skaters and parents, but it isn’t complete yet! Hope this is some help! Derby Love! TJRD

2012 is here!  The TJRD would like to wish everyone a safe and happy New Year!  We at the TJRD had a great year overall.  We had our ups and our downs but we got up and kept skating through 2011 with everything we have in us!  In the end, we had a great season; and to celebrate the amazing time we had in 2011 here is the first part of the slideshow from our 2011 end of season party!  The video was compiled but Art Attack-Her’s awesome and talented parents, but due to size issues it has been compressed so we can get it out to you in time to greet 2012!

Enjoy and stay tuned as we get the rest of the video posted throughout the week!

TJRD helps Santa’s breakfast at Jimmie Simpson

This beautiful Saturday morning, some of the awesome young ladies of the TJRD were volunteering their time at Jimmie Simpson RC where the rec centre hosted Breakfast With Santa! The breakfast was a blast and our pancake flipping friends were a huge help. Apple Scruff, Madzilla, Seemore Bruises, and Susie Bruisie were doing an excellent job of serving up breakfast alongside Coach R’effin. Thanks for representing the TJRD so well ladies!
